Relief from Obsessive Thoughts and Compulsions
Does this sound like you?
OCD therapy can help when you find yourself lying awake at night replaying whether you did something wrong, mentally reviewing conversations for proof you're a good person, or feeling hijacked by "what ifs" that your logical mind knows don't make sense, but your nervous system won't let go of.
OCD therapy addresses the cycle that keeps you stuck: Breaking the loops and helping you find more peace.
Getting stuck in loops of intrusive thoughts you can't shut off, no matter how hard you try
Checking, rechecking, and checking again—the lock, the stove, the email—but never quite feeling sure
Needing things to feel "just right" before you can move on, even when it costs you hours
Seeking reassurance from your partner, friends, or Google, only to feel anxious again minutes later
Avoiding places, people, or situations that might trigger the thoughts
Feeling ashamed of thoughts that don't reflect who you are and exhausted from fighting them in secret
It doesn’t have to be so difficult.
Letting go of intrusive thoughts is possible. You can leave the house without circling back to check. You can stop trying to figure things out nonstop and find a way to calm your anxiety and learn to trust yourself again.
OCD therapy helps you do 3 things:
Identify what's driving the cycle: The fears, beliefs, past experiences, and nervous system patterns that give your obsessions and compulsions their power
Retrain your brain's response: Learn how to let go of ruminations, stop compulsive cycles and process any trauma that could be fueling compulsive behavior so intrusive thoughts and compulsions lose their grip.
Build practical tools to tolerate uncertainty and calm your nervous system, so you can get your time, energy, and life back
I'll guide you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to OCD therapy uses iCBT, ERP, RF-ERP and/or Brainspotting to find what works to unravel your OCD and get you relief.

FAQs

A: Our sessions are collaborative and focused on getting you real relief—not just talking about your OCD endlessly. Every person is unique. We'll start by mapping your specific cycle: the intrusive thoughts, the anxiety they trigger, and the compulsions or avoidance that keep the loop going. You'll also learn practical tools to use between sessions.
-
A: This varies based on how long you've had OCD, how severe it is, and your goals. Many clients can experience meaningful relief within a few months of consistent work, and some choose to continue longer to go deeper or get support with other areas of life. My goal is always to help you build the skills you need to thrive on your own, not to keep you in therapy indefinitely.

A: If you're struggling with intrusive thoughts you can't dismiss, rituals or checking you feel compelled to do, endless reassurance-seeking, or a constant need for certainty or things to feel "just right," you're likely a great fit for this work. This includes the forms of OCD that often go unrecognized and can masquerade as typical anxiety, like relationship OCD, harm OCD, moral or religious scrupulosity, and purely mental compulsions. During our free consultation, we can discuss your specific situation and whether this approach is right for you.

Yes. Some forms of OCD are harder to recognize as OCD, and many clients will spend years in therapy analyzing their fears and even sometimes reinforcing obsessions. Analyzing and discussing the thoughts can become another form of reassurance and rumination, which unfortunately strengthen OCD patterns. . OCD requires a different approach. By combining ERP principles, iCBT with brain-based methods like EMDR and Brainspotting, we target the cycle itself rather than getting lost in content.

It’s very common that people with OCD can feel embarrassed by their thoughts and how difficult it is to stop obsessing and stop compulsive behaviors, even if they know they are irrational. Intrusive thoughts often target exactly what we care about most, which is why they feel so distressing. Know that you never have to say anything you aren’t ready to talk about, and know that I have the utmost compassion for how hard OCD can be to struggle with, and how much courage it takes to reach out for help and talk about your thoughts.
-
Absolutely. When OCD thoughts are taking over people often feel a spike of dread when a thought hits, and often feel physical tension, anxiety or hypervigilance. Through learning to stop ruminating and resist compulsions and processing underlying trauma, your nervous system can learn to feel more calm and present.
-
Yes. Many people with OCD are high functioning adults, who sometimes even hide their rituals, perform compulsions mentally where no one can see, and hold everything together at work while privately spending hours trapped in their heads. You don't have to hit a crisis point to deserve help, and you don't have to keep carrying this in secret.

I work with many presentations of OCD, including contamination fears and washing, checking, symmetry and "just right" compulsions, harm OCD, relationship OCD, moral and religious scrupulosity, and primarily mental compulsions like rumination and reviewing. I also help clients with the anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, and past difficult experiences that often fuel and accompany OCD.
